How the connection works

  1. You start it yourself

    The Search Console panel sits in the settings of a project you own. Nothing is connected until you start it, and no other part of GetCited.me depends on it.

  2. You grant read-only access to one property

    We ask for read-only Search Console performance access — the webmasters.readonly scope and nothing else — and you choose which property it applies to. That permission cannot change a setting, submit a sitemap, or write anything at all to your property.

  3. We read the daily figures for that property

    For the connected property we store daily clicks, impressions and average position, by page and by search query. Only days Google itself marks as final are stored, so a figure on screen is not rewritten the next morning.

  4. You disconnect whenever you want

    Disconnecting removes the binding, deletes the Search Console data stored for that project and the authorisation token, and asks Google to revoke the authorisation. You can also revoke it from your own Google Account without signing in here.

What the connection can and cannot do

  1. Reads search performance

    Clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position for the pages and the queries of the connected property.

  2. Optional, and reversible

    Everything else in GetCited.me works without it, and disconnecting deletes what was stored.

  3. Never writes to your property

    No settings changed, no sitemap submitted, no verification touched, no URL removed. Read-only access cannot do any of it.

  4. Never used for ads or model training

    The data is used only for the visibility features you see in the product. It is not sold, not shared with data brokers or advertisers, and not used to train AI models.

Where the data shows up

Search Console answers a question our own crawl cannot: what people already type before they arrive. It sits beside the AI-visibility numbers rather than replacing them.

  • The questions you track sit next to the searches your site already receives, instead of only what a model inferred from your pages.
  • The Pages screen shows which of your own pages Google already sends traffic to, alongside how those pages do in AI answers.
  • Top queries and top pages for the connected property, with rank-tracker queries kept out of the list and counted separately.

What we store, and how to remove it

Search Console data is stored for as long as the connection exists. Disconnect in the project settings and the stored rows and the authorisation token are deleted, and we ask Google to revoke the authorisation. The token is held encrypted at rest while the connection lasts, and nothing else in your Google account is read.

No. The connection is optional and nothing else in GetCited.me depends on it. You are offered it after your first results are already on screen, and declining changes nothing.
