Mention rate is the share of completed monitoring analyses in a selected time window where the answer refers to the correct tracked brand. Similar-name mismatches and answers with no verified brand mention do not count. It is not a search-impression or traffic metric.
In plain terms
If 30 of 100 completed question-and-platform analyses correctly mention the monitored brand, its mention rate is 30 percent for that monitoring set and time window.
The denominator is completed analyzed runs after the active platform, question type, topic cluster, market, and date filters are applied.
Mention rate measures presence. Ranked mention position, sentiment, share of voice, and citation sources describe the context and quality of that presence.
Why it matters
Mention rate is the simplest gauge of whether you exist in the AI answer surface at all — a low rate signals a discoverability or authority gap before anything else.
Tracked over time, it shows whether new content and fixes are actually surfacing in answers.
