Sentiment

Sentiment, in AI-visibility terms, is whether a brand mention in an AI answer is framed positively, neutrally, or negatively. It captures the tone of a verified mention, not just its presence.

In plain terms

Being named is not automatically good. An assistant might mention a brand as a leader, as a neutral option, or as the choice with a notable drawback.

For example, "X is the most reliable option" and "X is affordable but support is slow" both mention X, but they shape a buyer's impression differently.

Sentiment analysis reads the surrounding language of each verified mention to classify how the brand is being positioned.

Why it matters

A high mention rate paired with negative framing can quietly cost you buyers, so tone matters alongside frequency.

Spotting negative framing early shows where content or reputation work may be needed, not just more visibility.

How it relates to GetCited.me

For each correctly detected monitored-brand mention, GetCited.me records positive, neutral, or negative sentiment and a confidence value. Sentiment is reset to neutral when the brand is not mentioned or is an identity mismatch; the product does not claim equivalent sentiment scoring for every competitor row.
